چکیده
The observation of Boman and Kaletta (I, 2) that venom phosphodiesterase is capable of hydrolyzing the so called native thymus deoxyribonucleic acid has been confirmed in several laboratories (3-5). Boman (6) noticed that under appropriate conditions the reaction may be carried almost to completion. All these experiments were performed with comparatively crude preparations of phosphodiesterase. In the present paper the progress of degradation of deoxyribonucleic acid by highly purified phosphodiesterase has been followed by three independent methods: pH-stat titration, viscosimetry, and spectrophotometry. Similar measurements were made with pancreatic deoxyribonuclease I (a typical endonuclease) and with micrococcal deoxyribonuclease. The results were compared, and they led to the conclusion that phosphodiesterase degrades deoxyribonucleic acid to completion, essentially by exonucleolytic action (7).

Grinding-aid effect on the colour properties (Ry, whiteness and yellowness) of calcite in stirred media milling
This study investigates the influence of some chemical additives such as methanol, ethanol, sodium oleat, chloroform and sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) on the dry fine grinding of calcite (X50= 33 µm) using a stirred media mill. The experiments were carried out by a batch operation, and the change in colour properties (Ry, whiteness and yellowness) of calcite powder. The results showed that th...

The deiodination of labeled L-thyroxine and L-triiodothyronine (T3) in the presence of flavin mononucleotide, light, oxygen, and phosphate buffer, pH ‘7.4, was followed by measuring the iodide released. Under standardized conditions the amount of deiodination was found to be proportional to light intensity. At any T3 concentration, the reaction is first order with respect to Tat whereas FMN act...
